Kare-Med Consulting, a strategic partner of EN-Chart, is a nationally recognized consulting company that specializes in improving the financial performance of the Emergency Department. Founded in 1999 the company has assisted many hospitals around the country to reach it financial potential. Services are provided to both EN-Chart and non EN-Chart clients.

Consulting Services:

Facility Coding/Charge Assessment:
KMC will audit the hospital’s exiting coding to evaluate opportunities to improve both compliance and revenue for the emergency department. Comparison to the hospital’s existing tool to the services that were billed is completed. Revenue variances and compliance issues are identified and recommendations for improvement made. An annual projection of revenue opportunities are provided based on historical coding practices.

Professional Coding/Charge Assessment:
KMC will provide an external audit of the professional services coded and billed by evaluating the physician documentation and coder assignment of physician codes based on the CMS 1995 documentation guidelines. Compliance to current rules and opportunities for improvement are identified with associated recommendations as indicated.

Charge Master Analysis:
KMC will provide a detailed assessment of the hospital’s current emergency department charge master to identify possible procedural charges. An evaluation of the current charge amounts are compared to the hospital’s regional APC payment rate. Opportunities for improvement are identified with detailed recommendations for enhancements.

Charge Process Flow Assessment:
KMC will provide an on-site assessment of the current coding process with the intent to identify opportunities to streamline the coding process and provide recommendations to improve the coding timeline and days to process a bill.

Educational Services:

Coder/Nurse Auditor Training:
KMC provides on site coder training to both HIM and / or Emergency Department staff in all components related to emergency department and medicine coding. Courses offered include:
